After weather delays and flight changes, NSBE made it to Pittsburgh, PA for the National Conference! Because of your generosity, eight students were able to attend workshop sessions on branding, Building Your Chapter, The Importance of a Professional LinkedIn Profile, The Social Impact of Engineering, Leveraging Your Engineering Degree and many other personal and other professional development topics. Raytheon, Dell, Eaton Corp., Microsoft, Google, Boeing, Cummins, Caterpillar, Goldman Sachs, and Amazon hosted professional development sessions and hospitality suites, and GM let us test drive cars around the convention center! This year’s Career Fair had 189 companies and one student, Diandra Sawyer had an interview with Dow Chemical!
NSBE is divided into regions and the University of Louisville is in Region 3. This year, Region 3 won the Supreme Region Award, meaning they are the best of all regions. This award is based on participation at Regional, Leadership, and National Conferences during the year (our students attend all three), elected members on the National board, and participation in competitions. This conference was so meaningful because two of our members Andre Wingate and Diandra Sawyer won 3rd Place in the NSBE Debaters Competition!
Collectively, their leadership growth, fundraising abilities and persistence, commitment to NSBE, and dedication to their education is AMAZING. I am proud of them and couldn’t ask for a better group to advise! We are tremendously grateful for your support! We could not have have made it to Pittsburgh without you!
