Going Global: Service Learning to the World
Each year, teams of medical students from the University of Louisville School of Medicine travel to Ecuador and Tanzania to provide care for underserved communities. Many of these people would have to travel a long distance to see a doctor—so we bring the clinic to them!
Students provide clinics in villages and serve hundreds of patients in-country. To do our work we bring along many medications and equipment to treat medical issues while also providing adult and pediatric preventive care. Students often find patients who need more services than what is provided on-site. Facilitating and funding a patient's ability to see a specialist in their country who can diagnose and manage their illnesses is a huge benefit that these students strive to provide.
Your gift, any amount, will go right to work and impact so many.
Each dollar raised will be split among the two summer service trips and used to purchase medications, equipment, and support patient referrals in their respective country. When we return, we will have a better understanding about barriers to accessing healthcare, how culture affects health, and our roles in helping people from all walks of life.
Thank you for your support!
