Tulsa Pokhrel 2020
RaiseRED is an 18-hour dance marathon and the largest student-run philanthropic organization at the University of Louisville. The event has a year-round focus that raises awareness and funding for the children, families, and doctors fighting pediatric cancer and blood disease at UofL. Last year, nearly 1,000 students raised over $682,000! We are aiming even higher in 2020 and working to raise even more! 100% of donations to raiseRED directly benefit the work of Dr. Ashok B. Raj, Chair of the Division of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology at UofL. In years past, raiseRED funding has supported social work services, helped research initiatives, and directly benefited patient needs.
It’s about to be February which means that raiseRED, a UofL event that raises money for children with cancer and blood disorders, is less than a month away. I’ve volunteered to dance for 18 hours straight which makes me want to take a moment to reflect on my experience. Although I have always appreciated the fact that college students come together to support something so important, this event has always resonated with me on a much deeper level.
I have always wanted to help kids and save lives so this is one of the many ways I can do some good while having fun at the same time. It would be amazing if anyone can donate and help me raise money to help others. My mom has gone through a lot, she has many medical problems but she has survived and is doing amazing. She is amazing and means the world to me. I have been by her side through it all, and I want to do what I can for these kids and do everything I can to help! You can too by donating and supporting us! Thank you so much!
